My first name became the most interesting to me. I read through Dorothy Astoria’s The Name Book until I found my first name, Madison. Although I may not be a perfect person, I always try to do the best I can to uphold fine morals. I think that this definition best describes me because I try to lead by example. According to a source, Mitchell is a derivative of the name, Michael, who is the leader of heaven’s armies and is considered “the patron saint of soldiers” (Campbell). Although most people with the surname, Mitchell, live in the eastern portion of the United States, the majority of these people appear to live in Texas and northern states (Ancestry.com). Some well-known people with the last name, Mitchell, include Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone with the Wind, and Maria Mitchell, astronomer who discovered “Miss Mitchell’s Comet” (Biography.com).
