Have you ever gotten on a family trip and wondered if it could possibly change the way you see life? Well, let me tell you that this exact thing happened to me last Fourth of July. When you are on your teenager years a person only think of one thing and that’s you, yourself, and you again. That’s what I had on my mind before going to this marvelous trip, but how I saw my future before I went, and how I saw it when I came back and were very different. How could a mere and inoffensive family trip became such an important change on my life?
The twilight of the trip, what a boring piece of crap; or so I thought. Everything began on Friday the 1rst of July on the Miami Bay, All the cruises where standing there; so majestuous and flawless, fearless

Initially we took breakfast on a small café while watching the isle from afar. At the end we decided to take one of the excursions on the island. We ended up going to spend the day at a famous hotel; The Atlantis, and what a hotel it turned out to be. To get to the main patio we picked our way through a maze of stores, it seemed as if the first floor on the hotel was a private mall of the most exquisite store brands; Prada, Gucci, Valenntino, etc. Afterwards the hotel had a private casino that ended up with a way of tunnels and theses reveled a lovely mystery, all the bottom of the hotel was an aquarium at the same time. As a child, my parents shaped me into their ideal image of a little girl. The formation of their ideals actually started long before I first opened my eyes in the hospital. My story began back in 1988, when my parents met while working at Walt Disney World as cultural exchange workers from Canada. Their romance is a fairy tale. They had their first date at the Magic Kingdom, they spent all their days off on a Florida beach, and they experienced the technical magic that Disney is so well-known for.…

While at first glance, David Foster Wallace’s “Shipping Out” describes the miserable tale of the author on a cruise ship for a week, however, it is actually a commentary on the underlying insidious nature of cruise ships and vacation services. During this period, the author is treated to a multitude of luxuries, including thorough cleaning services, high-class dining, and constant recreational activities provided by the cruise. However, the author grows increasingly unsettled as he realizes the extent the ship’s crew is willing to do in order to gain the validation and the satisfaction of their customers. Jennifer Volland’s essay “Stay: The Archetypical Space of the Hotel” is another work which describes the nature of similar vacation spots,…

After the fight that Jeannette’s mom and dad had. The mom got up with the kids and applied for a job at the Battle Mountain Intermediate School and was hired on the spot because she had a teaching degree. Her mother hated teaching because her own mother was a teacher and pushed her into getting a degree in that so she would have a job to fall back on if her plans on being an artist failed. She was so angry that her mother might’ve been right all along. The only thing that really unsettled me was when she was trying to Miss Beatty that she was capable of disciplining her students.…

The anticipation for Thanksgiving break is over the top. The thought of home cooked meals, family, and no professors talking a student 's ear off for a week are heavenly. Of course all the classic thanksgiving things happen but there are also psychological things that go on. (Darn that psychology sneaking its way into everything, it obviously never goes on break.) Although psychology is used every minute of every day i 'm only going to talk about 5 concepts, persuasion, cognition, emotion, personality, and the self.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I believed that I was going to be the one person to go down and “change” the people. This idea is far from reality, but I realize that you can make a difference in some people’s lives. I have taken a few mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where I have built relationships with the people down there.…

It was the summer of 2007, and my parents thought that it would be a brilliant idea to go on a family road trip to some unknown location. This was the summer before I started high school and I wasn’t in the family bonding mood for a day let alone two weeks. With me being an only child, grandchild, and great grandchild, I was the only kid with five adults in a minivan. Why my parents thought that this was a good idea is still beyond my imagination.…

Once we FINALLY got there my friends and I decided to take our shoes off and find a perfect spot in the white hot sand to set up of chairs and umbrella. We took our clothes off because our swim suits were underneath and sprinted to the clear blue ocean.…
