In the novel Nothing But The Truth, by Avi, the author uses character perspective to guide the flow of the book. Throughout the book, Avi shows how different point of views shape the book, how it relates to real life events, and how it affects the characters. Avi spoke through each character, and explained what their thoughts were about Philip being suspended for singing the “Star Spangled Banner”. Ms.Narwin, Philip’s english teacher, thought that he was being disrespectful by singing the “Star Spangled Banner”, but Philip sees it as being patriotic.
