Personal Narrative: My Room For Spring Break

Improved Essays
What could I clean in my room for Spring Break? I could probably clean the papers lying all over my room that my little sister throws everywhere. My room is very messy with papers that have scribbles on them from my sister. I should also clean my closet because it is filled with old clothes that are too small for me to wear. Even though my sister always makes a mess, she’s still a cool baby.
I would also get rid of all of the crumbs of food that my sister always drops when she eats in my room. I could also get rid of the trash cans in my room because I barely use them. Another way I could

The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I had no idea what to think about this foreign, petrifying, game could possibly be about. The car ride from my house was only a few minutes away from the fields where I would begin my baseball career.…

There’s a little slice of Heaven in Marshall, Texas, where the sun shines through the pines and the sound of cicadas serenade you throughout your afternoon and the lake shines like a plate of polished silver in the early morning sun. When I first came to Camp Fern, I was on my own. Everyone else had known each other for at least two years, so I was the odd one out. In my cabin there was the usual sort. There was the popular one, the attention seeker, the joker, and the one you love to hate.…

I was 13 years old, just starting off high school, when I realized what this dark cloud that’s been floating over me for the past couple of months really is. It wouldn’t be until more than a year later until I seek out professional help. It started off innocently enough as just a feeling of constant emptiness at the pit of my stomach. It slowly turned into randoms bouts of extreme rage, where I’d take out my anger physically, not just on the walls and mirrors of my childhood home and not just on my family, but on myself. I couldn’t understand why I felt this way, why I wasn’t “normal”.…

Throughout my life, I have been the victim of several burglaries. At the age of seven, someone, in broad daylight, broke into our house and shot my dad in the chin. I was displaced to my aunt's house for weeks and missed most of my 1st grade year. When I was seventeen, I walked in on my home being robbed by some local kids. They were upstairs when I came into the house and escaped through a window, but the idea that I could have come home earlier still haunts me.…

*Sigh* It's that time of year again and no I'm not talking about the joys of Black History Month. It's February, which means good old Valentines Day is getting ready to rear its ugly commercialized head in every aspect of our lives. From being visually assaulted in the drug store while grabbing tampons, or losing your mind trying to get the latest themed Makeup Collection; Valentines Day can drive you crazy if you aren't crazy in love. For me, this time of year is particularly painful as it was this time last year I was dumped by my EX only a few weeks after I moved to NYC. Not only was a single with no friends, I didn't have the self-love necessary to see the blessing of being alone.…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…

Once there was a kid named Joe. Joe was a 6th grader at Fredon School, he was on a basketball team and a soccer team. Most kids and teachers thought that he was an ordinary 6th grader. There I stood, a short, awkward little girl with a boyish haircut that reached to just about my ears, replicating half of an upside down coconut. I carried a bright pink backpack with a matching lunchbox that looked massive next to my particularly small frame. My sneakers lit up with each hesitant step that took me closer and closer to my classroom. When I finally made it, rows of small chairs and a huge green chalkboard stood in front of me, and that was when I lost it. I cried so loud without utter humility and acknowledgement of anyone around me.…
