The passion and motivation to become a nurse and help people is what drives me to complete and stay on task with my studies. I have been told that this is the most intensive course load and condensed information within the health care system; the sleepless nights, time spent away from our families, and unmet needs within our own bodies fuel my desire to help people within the health care…
There are many reasons why I feel that this career as a pediatric nurse is the career for me. The average salary is a major plus to why I want to hold this career. With the money that a pediatric nurse makes, I could have a great future with this career and a perfect future with my family. I also feel that I have all the aptitudes needed for this…
Becoming a nurse was not something I always knew I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to have a career in the medical field due to the opportunity for innovations in health care and the challenges for improvement. It was not until my mother’s struggle with breast cancer that becoming a nurse became my mission. As a young child at my mom's bedside, I would watch her nurses as they took care of her. To me, they were pillars of compassion, strength, and advocacy that inspired me to pursue nursing.…
After graduating from UC Davis in 2007 I moved to China. There I worked in the furniture and apparel manufacturing sector while based in Shanghai and Beijing. In 2013 I returned to California to complete science prerequisites for medical school at UCSB. During this period I supported myself working as a medical assistant in a primary care practice. In January 2016 I’ll move to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala for five months of Spanish training.…
My life is rather very complicated. Of course, I know that I’m not the only one that lives like this, and that other people may have it much worse than I do. Whether its struggle with bills or all together as a family, I still try to do the very best I can. Although we have troubles, I don’t express my emotions of that matter, but rather be who I am, which is being happy and making every day possible. I’ve done community services with my church like going to nursing homes and feeding the people at the hospitality center.…
Ever since my first visit to a hospital I've been fascinated and in awe of the jobs nurses and doctors have. To see how these people could save me from a potentially life threatening problem really grasped my attention, for them to be able to recognize what was happening inside my body was amazing to me. With my mom coming home with new stories everyday from the operating room, it excited me instead of scarring and grossing me out it stirred up the curiosity in me. The curiosity and desire to be able to witness this first hand. From a young age, school has you write about how you see yourself in the future, my main goal has always been to be a nurse and make myself and those around me proud.…
I first became acquainted with the occupation of radiologic technology in high school when I had the opportunity to participate in job shadowing. I immediately chose radiologic technology as one of my first choices. I chose it because, like so many other students in my class, I had never experienced getting an x-ray or any other type of radiation modality growing up. I became interested in the science and anatomy aspect of radiation sciences and also was amazed at how a machine could produce images of bones, babies in the womb, arteries, etc. I traveled to Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for my first job shadowing experience where I observed several barium studies of the upper gastrointestinal tract.…
As I begin to gather all of my pieces together throughout my nursing education, interactions in clinical settings with my patients, families and professionals I have created my own personal nursing philosophy. The dream of becoming a nurse reflects back to when I was a child. I was the daughter who was always there to translate, book appointments and relay messages to my parents during doctor appointments. While feeling concerned on helping my parents I began to also feel the need to help others. This is when I decided to pursue my career as a nurse.…

People believe we have natural talents or a way to develop them. Others just get this spark that leads them to something they love. My spark or passion is helping others, kindness, and making others happy. I desire to explore opportunities or careers that will help me develop my curiosity and make me nurture these passions even more.…
To be sincere I feel a little nervous getting into preceptorship, the final step of practice in the nursing program; especially that I will be without my fellow students to work with, share experiences and support each other. On the other hand, I am looking forward to the experience as this will challenge me to work independently, critically think through situations and enhance my ability to implement appropriate interventions and increase confidence in my practice. I am thankful to the knowledgeable nurse on unit 29, who showed professionalism in their practice and worked as a team to meet patients’ health care demands/needs. I was challenged to take responsibility for my own learning and productivity by being more critical and attentive to every detail. I feel more prepared mentally and physically on how to respond to certain situations and not to take things for granted.…

I know that I probably will not save everyone lives but if I can prevent someone from dying I would. I appreciate being there to help sustain a person life so that they could live again such as my grandmother. I have helped her maintain a normal range blood range and I definitely proud of myself because that wasn’t an easy task. The reason why I am interested in nursing because I love helping others when they’re incompetent to do for themselves. I realized that nursing was a perfect fit for me once I became a certified nursing assistant.…

What does it mean to have a future? Anyone can have a future, but is that future a proper one? To survive in this wild world that we live and thrive in, one must be successful. To be successful, one must first achieve skills and intelligence through proper schooling and gather degrees in fields of his/her choice. My particular choice is to go down the path of Nursing and to major in that field.…
