The Hollister R-V School District is located in western Taney County, Missouri. It is considered part of the Branson Tri-Lakes Area. Because of the transient nature of the Branson seasonal tourism industry, the student population has a high turnover rate. The student ethnic demographics of the 1,4,22 students is as follows: Asian, .4%, Black, 1.5%, Hispanic, 6.3%, Indian, .9%, multi-race, 1.1%, and white, 88.7%. 72.6% of the student population are on free/reduced lunch. The district scored a six out of ten on the attendance portion of the report. This is what brought the score down. When students are not at school they are missing out on important instructional time, even though Hollister High School is a 1:1 school, students need to have regular contact with the classroom teacher. Additionally, I want to lower discipline referrals because students who are disrupting the educational process, make it difficult for the students who want to learn the opportunity to do so. When students act out in class and are sent to the office and spend time in in-school detention they are not able to take advantage of the instructional time afforded to them. The mission of Hollister High School is to prepare all students to be successful citizens in college, career, and life. Students need to understand that they are victims of their decisions; they are defined by them. Becoming the best version of one’s self requires self-control. In order to master the art of self control people must gravitate to things that will make them happy and not look for things that only bring pleasure because happiness is sustainable and pleasure is not. We all make mistakes along the way and we all have regrets and we all must know that each day we are offered a clean slate and another chance to become the best versions of ourselves. In order to fix the disciple, attendance, and increase academic achievement we have to work from the inside out and not from the outside in. We want to create a learning atmosphere that promotes healthy foundational basis for student decision making and not a plan that looks for punitive consequences for making bad
