In “How Cell Phones Are Killing Face-to-Face Interactions” Mark Glaser claims that live, social interactions are becoming a thing of the past because we are lost in a “gadget haze.” I agree in part, but I feel as though his conclusion is extreme. As technology advances, people do tend to conform to this technology, and this can cause them to use the technology rather than communicating to others in person. With that being said, instead of people taking that extra few minutes to see someone in person they turn to texting and calling to avoid talking to others in person. Additionally, cell phones have aided people and social interaction just as much as they have caused problems.

Cell phones come in handy when we are in unfamiliar areas because they tell us where we are. They can aid us if we need to call for help in times of crisis. Without the phone, many of us would be lost in connecting with other people. The calendar function on the mobile phones can help us keep track our day-to-day lives. These are reasons why cell phones have a positive effect on us.
Cell phones have evolved past their functional aide. This technology now has features that can offer many distractions. An example this is Glaser’s so-called “gadget haze” where he was visiting a country and stopped to ask a fellow passerby to find a place because he felt as though he was lost. The passerby’s response took longer than he expected because she was so focused on the technology in her hands to even formulate an answer. Reasons that cell phones can have a negative outcome on people is when people check their phone during dinner. And
