The Best-Qualified Applicant

The AMSP uses the best-qualified applicant criteria for admission versus a branch quota system. Unfortunately, under current AMEDD policy officers applying to the AMSP are limited to AOC of 67A and 67J. This restriction needlessly limits the available pool of applicants within AMEDD. It would be more advantageous for AMEDD to expand its available applicant pool to the best-qualified officer system, which could increase AMEDD officers selected for the AMSP.

b. AMSP graduates possess extensive knowledge in operational art and science that enables them to serve as leaders and operational planners. Upon graduation, services place officers on orders to Tier I assignments according to the Department of the Army G-3 (DAG-3) distribution
