What make a book become interesting? Most of people will say definitely is its plot. Yes, it ‘s absolutely right. But, with me, the things which make a book interesting is also the plot and the language or the writing style of the author. Vietnamese culture have a proverb: “ You don’t have to pay for speech, choose nice things to say with each other”. Well, it’s actually very parallel in Vietnamese. In my view, language and writing style is very important to make a good book or paper. That is the reason why every have to be censored before publish. Have you ever read a book which is banned? Me? Yes, I have. That book is: “ The catcher in rye”. Why did people ban it? They must have some reasons. It’s because of it language. I cannot believed it used to be banned, and how it affects to the literature theme and even people daily life in 1950’s until 1980’s. You maybe wonder how the language of the book sound like, right?

It is a novel have a big influence to not only United State but also the world. Its language is colloquial, and slangy makes the reader feel very real. Simultaneously, it represented the fact of the other side of the society at that time. Holden Caulfield became an icon for young generation because he is smart, but naughty, angry, free young man. After a lot of arguments, the catcher in the rye was taught in many high schools in United State. It is a lesson about life for teenager particularly and people generally. This lesson taught readers how to be wise in daily life, how to see the right, the wrong side of issues. In my view, it can be taught how to use good words based on its language. “The catcher in the rye” later became one of the most famous novel of the century. Every year, about 250000 have been sold. In total, about 65 millions have been sold so far. The book has been included in Top 100 best English language novels from 1923 to the present by Time
