TThe Game That Changed My Life Ever since I first started to walk, sports have been a major part of my life. When I walk on to the pitch I am transformed into another world where all else fades away except the game. Two years ago, when I was a sophomore in high school, the game changed my entire life forever. After many time-consuming and demanding practices my team finally earned a place in the conference tournament for the first time in decades. The game was days away, but I could already feel the focus and intensity in the air. We were to play against Floyd, one of our biggest rivals; they were stacked with strong, confident players and would definitely come to win. I planted my foot and turned to protect the ball only to hear a loud crack in my right knee. All I can remember was lying on the ground screaming at the top of my lungs. My teammates, Gretchen and Chloe, surrounded me calmly saying, “stay still”, and, “it’s going to be okay.” I remember seeing black and white spots in my vision, then feeling a pair of strong hands pick me up and place me in the back of a vehicle. My mother was not present at my game so everything that was going through my mind was that I had no one there for me. The athletic trainer and my coach recommended I go to the hospital right away, but I waited until the next day. At the hospital, I was told I tore all my tendons and dislocated my knee cap in my right knee. We had lost the conference game by one goal in overtime. The following day after the accident the Emory and Henry scout call me to tell me how good of a game I had and hoped to see me recover fast. My recovery progress was hard and an ongoing challenge, it had devastated me to sit out the rest of the
