Throughout the article, “The Jones Family’s Culture of Literacy,” by Amy Suzanne Johnson, one of the most interesting paragraphs to me appears before she even analyzes the family. The paragraph titled, “My Role as Researcher,” really stood out to me due to it’s unique nature due to her role as a researcher and her background. Johnson is European American and has some bias with her; however, she recognizes that and admits to it. I learned that as a researcher you need to unbiased no matter your background, and it’s good to address your own bias. She even stated the purpose of their interviews because she truly wanted to learn and to better understand their lives.
