In Act 3, Hamlet has suicidal thoughts ever since losing his father and his mother remarried his uncle. Hamlet feels alone and disconnected from everyone. While everyone is happy for the newly married king and queen, Hamlet is saddened by his mother marrying his uncle just shortly after the passing of his father. Hamlet says, “... who would put up with all life’s humiliations… when you could simply just take out your knife and call it quits”(III.i.71-78). Hamlet talks to Fortinbras captain and the captain tells him that 2,000 men are on their way to fight for a patch of land in Poland. As Hamlet and the captain are speaking, Hamlet realizes if 2,000 men can fight and risk their life for honor and some land that has no worth, Hamlet can change his life around and avenge his father's death and kill Claudius.
