The depressing feeling of silence has been felt in all parts of the world at some point in history. For example, storms happen everywhere so that is one example already of the uneasy, anxious silence that relates to a storm. On a deeper level, many countries have experienced terrible times that result in silence such as the atomic bombs being dropped which was represented by a “silent scream.” Also, for the U.S., attacks like Pearl Harbor and 9/11 started with silence on normal mornings in the nation. The silence was continued during the attacks just because it left everyone speechless. The silence didn’t end after the attacks because that is when the silence of uncertainty comes upon everyone. Also, there are moments of silence to honor those who were killed which is a very depressing kind of silence.
