On the other hand, there are a few values I do not feel are important. Concern for the environment and material comfort are two values I do not fully agree with. Most people would question why I do not have a concern for the environment. I know I sound like a not concerned citizen, but I have never really been into protecting the environment. I love nature and everything it has to offer. I love hiking, swimming, boating, and playing on the beach. But I still do not feel this should be a value and do not believe it is very important. I have also never really been an animal person, so I think this is also why I do not have a concern for the environment. Another value, that I believe is not important is material comfort. This is my opinion that makes American seem like snubs, and self-absorbed in their lives of material wealth. I have never been materialistic or needed name brands to define me. Peer pressure is used a lot in material comfort because people always want what other people have. Peer pressure is influence from members of one's peer group (164). I think this is why I do not believe material comfort should even be a value. We should all be blessed and happy we have so many values that are accepted today. Everyone has the right to use these values to guide their lives. Even though I do not agree with values like concern for the environment, and material comfort, I respect them because I know they are important to other people just as my values, religiosity and physical fitness are important to me. These two values guide me daily and help me grow into the person I hope to
