I was sitting at my daughter Kate's 7th grade basketball game at the Upper Grade Center this week. On the wall of the gym was a new slogan for this year for the student body. It said, "Work Harder Than You Did Last Week." I loved that thought. We have a choice to consistently look for ways to get better in what we do and strive for doing better each week or being satisfied with where we are at.…

As the current coaching staff knew, we were struggling without the guidance of our previous coach: every meet was like going into enemy territory, with little hometown crowd support. When our new Coach reminded us that we were unified and could stand with one another knowing that we’d triumph, we were rejuvenated. Commencing our execution of every meet in intention, we were conscious that our effort would amount to…

The past six years, the Rochester girls golf team has made it to State and has finished in either 2nd or 3rd place. There has not been a team in the school history to ever win the team title for girls golf. Coach Hill, Coach Mayer, Morgan Savage, Gabby Isaacks, myself and Lindsay Alewelt would tackle Red Tail Run on a cold, windy course to beat the odds given to us on October 16th and 17th. Through trust, hard work, motivation, and a little luck, the 2015 Rochester girls golf team defeated their oppositions and took home a state title. Leaving myself the greatest memory of my High School experience.…

You guys showed true sportsmanship.” This coach saw us as his children, and for him we are all grateful. With everyone on the bus, and accounted for, I looked back into the steamy field as the lights turn off one by one. It was the first complete run thru that we did and the last one we had at the church. In my opinion, last night’s run thru might not have been at our best performance, but it gave us a peek and a general idea of how drill competition feels like. I realized that concentrating and getting our heads in the game can allow us to make less fundamental mistakes and perform at all to our potential. 12 Days, 3 Practice and less than 20 hours we have together before drill com. The pressure is on and as long as we starve our distractions and be focus, I can definitely see us winning as a team.…

So we prayed and the game started and we played nervously. My captain, Melissa dribbled down the court, looked to pass, and took the shot but missed it. Michelle also missed her fast-break lay up, and I missed my free throw. At the end of Quarter 2, it was like playing football because the scoreboard only shows 2 for Ipeka Tomang (my school) and 3 for Yadika. That indicates how much we are struggling the whole quarter never really score but a constant battle between getting and loosing the ball.…

My Passion Throughout all my years of playing football, my passion for the game went undiscovered until my senior season. I’ve played football for as long as I can remember. From playing flag football in third and fourth grade, all the way up to my senior year of high school, it has always been a part of my life. I always found myself doing something football-related, whether it be playing with friends, watching on TV, or playing it on the PlayStation. To me, football is a way of bonding with friends and family.…
