In Peter Weir’s film, The Truman Show, Truman is trapped in a simulated life in which his experiences are unknowingly broadcasted to the entire world. He is under the constant influence of authoritative figure, Christof, who is the executive producer of the show. Through experiences, lessons, and learning opportunities they have aided in the defining of my worldview to an immense extent. At a time when I was still a young child, my mother took me out to dinner at a fast food restaurant. There was an impoverished man at the counter who was fumbling through what little change he had left. However, it was at this point that my mother decided to step in and pay for the man’s meal. He was extremely grateful and offered my mother all of the change he had left in which she respectfully declined. This act demonstrated to me that even the most simple act of kindness can make someone smile. As a result of this, my mother as an authoritative figure over me made an impact on my world vision.
