Writing To Inform: My Reflection On Writing

Improved Essays
After completing the assigned reading, Writing to Inform, I feel that I have gained a better idea and understanding on what I will write about and how I will complete Project 2. Staring a paper always seems to be the hardest part of any project, but with the direction that this reading has given me, I am more prepared to execute this project. First of all, I need to figure out who my audience is. My audience will be the class instructor. Since this is going to be an informative writing, I will be writing this as more of a public service announcement for everyone who is ignorant of the subject. The second thing to do is decide on a topic that I will inform my audience about. While reading, I thought of a topic that is close to my family and …show more content…
The next thing that was outlined in the text was trying to decide on how to present this information in a way that gets the point across, catches and keeps attention and also is clear cut and to the point. The brochure sounds like a very good way of doing project 2 and being able to hand them out to lots of people. I don’t feel that it is the best way for my possible topic. I think having a clear and simple essay is the route that I will take for this. Lastly, having the available data and facts behind what I believe is the issue that I am writing about. With it being in healthcare, there are some hurtles that need to worked around and boundaries that need to be followed like HIPAA and other things in place to protect privacy. Lucky for me, there is a vast amount of data out there that does to violate any of these things. A good amount of people with whom I can interview to gain an insight that perhaps I do not yet know. The last thing that I need to keep in mid that was laid out by the reading was trying to keep a very neutral tone in the upcoming project. It is very hard to do with something that is so close to the heart as this topic is for me, but it is something that I will do my best to achieve. With the brainstorming, free writing, rough drafts and editing I feel I will be able to catch any and all bias that my

Adequate writing was always a struggle for me because I struggled with coming up with topics to write about. Even when teachers gave us prompts to write about I struggled writing about them mostly because I thought writing was boring. Another reason I was discouraged by writing was I would spend hours at a time trying to come up with ideas for a prompt and would barely come up with any ideas to write about. Being a civil engineering major I see why writing is so important in my career field. My experience with writing has had its good moments and its bad moments.…

Kincaid: Respond to the ideas in “Exploratory Writing,” p. 503 Christopher Columbus was the one who "discover of the island", and Annie knew that island was her home. I think she knows really clearly that she came from the slaves: "but we, the descendants of the slaves,' because her ancestors had gone from Africa. Of course Annie has her own view about Christopher, and I absolutely understand why does she wrote: "The Great Man Can No Longer Just Get Up and Go. " I feel bad about the teaching system at this time, they let "the girl who scored lowest was made to wear the dunce cap all day," or the way that Annie's teacher treat her is so terrible when she write her own thinking.…

Rhetoric is the first and foremost lesson all English 102 students must walk away with from this course with a full understanding of. Prior to this course I had a good understanding of rhetoric, but this course refreshed my memory and helped further direct me towards a better writing style due to better understanding. The discussion board "Understanding Rhetoric" helped navigate the students and help discuss with our peers on the topic. The videos we watched through this course helped me realize I used rhetoric on a daily basis more often than I had thought. Rhetoric is not only useful in written work, but in my field of work as well, I am a salesman by profession.…

Freshman Composition has resulted in many sleepless nights and has been by far the most difficult class I have ever taken. The class is designed to get a student ready for college life and realize that everything is at a much faster pace with assignments being assigned daily. Throughout this portfolio it should be clear that in the beginning of the semester I had struggled in my writing and have progressively become better as a writer. Personally, the biggest accomplishment for me was to not procrastinate and gain greater word choice to put in my writing pieces. Having tons of work assigned to you, with all the homework from all other classes that a student has, can be difficult for a student to stay focused and get everything done, and that…
