Born: December 23, 1883 in Madisonville, Kentucky
Enrolled at Howard University, and transferred to Indian University in the fall of 1910.
1st Black to earn a A.B. degree from IU School of Education.
Earned a Master's degree of Education from Howard University in 1944.
Served as Grand Polemarch for the 1st six years of the fraternity's existence, as a Grand Board Member and as Grand Hostorian.
He was award the Fraternity's first Laurel Wreath in 1924.
The 2nd highest award was dedicated in Diggs name.

Dr. Ezra Dee Alexander (Medical Doctor) |
Born: July 18, 1891 in Bloomington, Indiana
He attended IU in the fall of 1910 and graduated from IU in 1917 with an A.B. degree.
He received his M.D. degree from the Medical School of IU in 1919.
He practiced medicine for over 50 yrs.

Born: April 8, 1892 in Westfield, Indiana
He enrolled at Howard University in 1909 and transferred to IU in the fall of 1910.
Graduated from IU with an A. B. degree in the fall of 1913
Master's degree - Columbia Univ. in 1914
Ph.D. degree - University of Michigan 1940
Earned the 6th Laurel Wreath Award
One of the primary potent forces behind the founding of the Fraternity.
Byron K. Armstrong Scholars Award was dedicated in his name.
The Only Grand Chapter award available to fraternity undergraduate members for outstanding achievement.

Born: June 30, 1890
Bachelor of Arts in 1914 from IU
Attended University of Minnesota M.A. degree in 1917
Received L.L.B degree from Detriot College of Law in 1928.

Dr. Marcus Peter Blakemore (Dentist - Prosthetic Dentistry) |
Born: 1889 I. Franklin, Indiana
Graduated from high school in 1909 and attended IU the following year.
He left IU without graduating and organized the Electric Engineering Company, with he operated until he enlisted with the U.S. Army in WWI.
After WWI he enter Dental School of University of Pittsburgh.
Earn DDS degree in 1923 He became the first black to receive the MS degree 1949 in Prosthetic Dentistry from University of Pittsburgh Dental School.

Paul Waymond Caine (Cater and Dry Cleaning Business) |
Born: May 17, 1890
Enrolled at Indiana University in 1909 and helped the other Gou ders in organizing the Fraternity.
He was in a disastrous fire at the fraternity where he was employed and he never finished his sophomore yr.
Started a catering companies in several cities.
Later went into business in Illinois in a Dry Cleaning business where he was burned during an explosion of a gaseous materials.
Developed pneumonia from the fire and died from compication from the fire.
Outstanding Alumni Chapters are presented the Paul W. Caine Award, name in his honor

George Wesley Edmonds |
Born: August 13, 1890
Enrolled in Indiana University in the fall of 1910
Hua father became I'll and died in the summer of 1911.
George was the eldest son and had to become the head of the family. This prevented him from returning to school.
With new responsibilities he took on a job at the coal mine and the railroad.
Died: June 13, 1962 |

Dr. Guy Levis Grant (Dentist) |
Born: April 9, 1891
After graduating high school, he later entered Indiana University.
Graduated from IU with a A. B. degree in 1915.
Received his DDS degree from IU I. 1920
He practice dentistry for over 50 yrs in Indianapolis.
Served the Fraternity as Grand Historian for 16 yrs. Guy Levi's Grant Award is named in his honor.
His award goes to undergraduate members of the fraternity whi exhibit extra meritorious contributions to the Fraternity's advancement.

Edward Giles Irvin |
Born: August 12, 1893 in Spencer, Indiana
Entered Indiana University in 1910
He didn't return in the spring term of 1911 because he pursued a Journalistic career in various cities throughout the country until WWI, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was awarded for his duty.
After the war he promoted athletics in the small town schools in Indiana
Also organized and operated the Afro-American Manufacturing Company in Chicago, which produced novelties, candies and specialties.
Member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows Lodges.
He received the Laurel Wreath Award
He has a award in his name to be bestowed upon the Most Outstanding Undergraduate Chapter.

John Milton Lee |
Born: September 7, 1890 in Danville, Indiana
Entered Inidiana University in 1910
He left the university after completing three years of pre-medical work.
Enrolled into University of Pennsylvania and Temple University but had to withdraw from both due to health reasons and death in the family.
Enlisted in the Army in 1917 into the 349th Field Artillery Regiment and served overseas as a first Class Sergeant and Gunner
He fired the first shot with his 1st Battery of Negro Artillerymen ever to open fire upon enemy.
Died: January 3, 1958 |
