Ethnic background combined with family, customs, traditions, beliefs, habits. Reflexion of who or what we are as a group |

Being in mainstream groups comes with certain advantages. the majority of people can relate and understand that culture, they are not seen as weird or strange, which can happen if you are apart of a minority culture that most people do not understand. |

It is difficult for society to accept all cultures, seeing as there are just so many different cultures. |

No, they have tended to have a stronger emphasis on white culture, and the mainstream culture of our region. with some sections on the Acadian's, and the first nations people. |

Generally the people who lose in history are not given as much attention as those who have won. history books written about white men, by white men, for white men... |

When minorities, or the "losers" are included in history books, it is generally to point out their mistakes, or flaws. |

Throughout history there has been a general emphasis on Euro-centrism, in North America, as well as in Europe and other parts of the world. |

when a group of people are marginalized it means to push them to the side or to ignore/silence them |

What is the difference between equality and equity? Why is it important to understand the difference when trying to understand people who were once or still are oppressed? |
Equality is treating everyone the exact same, whereas equity is treating people fairly based on their needs. It is important because every group of people have different needs. most people try to push for equality but in reality there needs to be a give and take based on individual needs. |
