Secured in locked plastic box, hour glass flashes, seals on zipper. Located in 2nd to last over head bin a/c left.



Only used by alaska flight attendant or others under the direction of med link. Always detach the pads from device when transferring someone to medical professionals. Also has razor, trauma shears, gloves and a microshield mask.

How would you fight A class a fire?

Use a water extinguisher; sweep side to side up to 20 feet away at the base of the fire. Extinguisher will last 30 seconds.

Where are halon and water extinguishers located

Halon extinguishers are located at the forward and aft portions of the plane on the left side. There is one water extinguisher located on the left aft portion of the a/c.

How would you fight a fire in the lav or closed compartment?

Notify pilots.


Feel the door, if it is not hot to touch, open when you have the halon extinguisher in hand and the PBE donned, aim at base with a slightly open door. Use entire halon.



If the door is hot to the touch cover seems of door and vents with wet towels.



If it is in a concealed location notify pilots, call for another halon and crash axe, puncture area with crash Axe and discharge all of halon.

What is a class c fire and how do you fight it?

Class c is an electrical fire. Always use a halon, water conducts electricity.

C=computer

What is a class B fire and how do you fight it?

Flammable liquids, gas, oil, grease. Use the halon extinguisher, never use water; water will spread the fire.

B=burgers

What is a class d fire and how do you fight it?

Class d is burning metals. Use the halon extinguisher then follow with a water extinguisher, or other cool non flammable liquids, to cool the object. Never dump ice on it, it will create an igloo effect and could combust again.

What do you do If you don't know the source of the fire?

Use a halon

Describe arming and disarming the doors

Wait for the A to make announcement, then to arm: put rope across window, ensure handle is secure, then put girt bar in clasps.



To disarm: A makes announcement, unclasp girt bar, remove rope from window.



B replies to call from d/a saying "aft doors armed/disarmed" as b and c complete cross check.

How does the A arm and disarm the doors?

A gets final paperwork from csa


A delivers paperwork to captain and gives important info


Asks captain if they are ready to close door


After approval is gained A makes the announcement about door being closed


B replies with "main cabin ready for door closure, exit rows have been briefed"


A tells csa "cabin is secure ready to close"

Demo kit preflight

Ensure correct seat belt type, correct safety card, oxygen mask, life vest (unless on a 400 or 700), short notice prep card.

Preflight EMK and give info

Preflight= in locked compartment and seal intact



Info= should only be used if EEMK is depleated. Only used by MR or DO. Others, including fa, under direction of med link. Captain can have emergency authority to allow properly trained individual to use it.

Preflight and info for EEMK

Preflight= in locked plastic compartment, plastic seal on both zippers, if seal on small compartment is gone ensure stethoscope and blood pressure cuff are present.



Info= to be used first. Used by MD or DO. others, including fa, under direction of med link. Captain has authority to give emergency authority to allow properly trained individual to use it.

Preflight and info for ELT

Preflight = securely bracketed, toggle on the armed position, present.



Info= exposure to water activates it. Grab it in a ditching, if leaving on land switch toggle to on. A will grab it in forward a/c, b will grab it in aft a/c

Preflight and info for exit row seat cushions

Preflight = ensure that thinner seat cushions are at a and f seats for each exit row. If unable to locate the cushion fill out a cabin discrepancy and tell pilots.



Info = only on 400

Preflight and info for first aid kit

Preflight = securely bracketed and at least one seal intact



Info = should be used first for any first aid issues. May be used by any fa or medical responder. Includes: splint, gloves, masks, antiseptic swabs, scissors.

Preflight and info for flashlight

Preflight = Securely bracketed, red light flashes every 10 seconds



Info = for emergency only, water resistant but doesn't float, use wrist strap when out of A/C.

Preflight and info for flex cuffs

Preflight = 4 flex cuffs in each fa kit, accessible.



Info= must notify pilots if flex cuffs are needed. Cuff hands behind someone, can use belt loops if arms don't reach, or cuff in front. Don't cuff person to part of A/C. Blocks will automatically lock but knot the rope as a precaution.

Preflight and info for halon extinguisher

Preflight = securely bracketed, ring pin and safety seal intact gage on bottle in green zone



Info= Class B, C, and D. Can be used as a controlling agent for A fires. 8-15 foot range, for 10-15 seconds. Bottle is red. Use sweeping motion at base of fire to extinguish.

Preflight = restraint straps retractable, seats retractable

Preflight for lavatory

Preflight = green light illuminated, trash bin cover operable, no discoloration on high temperature placard.

Preflight and info for life rafts

Preflight = verify rafts are present through the viewing hole. On 800, one raft is located in the 4th row A/C left over head bin


Info= Only on 800/900 A/C. 3 ABPs per raft. Ensure wind and waves comply with where you deploy rafts. Try to keep people dry.

Preflight and info for life vest

Preflight = check if crew life vests are present under all jump seats.



Info = there will be a life vest present in demo kit for all aircraft where passengers have the life vests.

Preflight and info for infants life vests

Preflight = present and sealed



Info = use on child less than 35 lbs. Deploy on child inside a/c if not in car seat.

Preflight and info for med link headsets and jacks

Preflight = blue bag located in locked bin a/c left on 800/900. Located in aft over head bin a/c left on 400, 400 combi, 700.



Info = jacks located at forward, mid and aft cabin. Cord is 25 ft. Must use button to communicate. Contact pilots to initiate communication.

Preflight and info for the mega phone

Preflight = securely bracketed. Don't test.



Info = hold to mouth, squeeze trigger, aim above horizon.

Preflight and info for wheelchair

Preflight= accessible. Located in 2nd to last over head bin on a/c right or in over head container in aft portion of a/c.



Info = passenger must be able to transfer themselves. FA can assist but cannot pick up. Ensure that wheelchair is in brake position to maximize safety.

Preflight for PA

Preflight = test each handset. Alert crewmembers if inoperable.

Preflight and info for single port POB

Preflight = securely bracketed, pressure at 1500 psi, one extra hose and mask for spo.



Info = 4 liters of oxygen/minute, 55 min duration, green in color.

Preflight and info for 3po POB

Preflight = securely bracketed, pressure at 1500 psi at least, one hose and mask attached, two extra attached to bottle.



Info = 4 liters of oxygen / minute, one mask- 55min, two mask - 27, three mask - 18 min. Green bottle.

How do you administer oxygen to a passenger?

Carry the POB by donning it, attach only the amount of masks and hoses needed. Turn value counterclockwise, test flow with the mask connection. Place mask on on customer by placing mask under chin, strap to the back of head and pinch nose bracket.


Lay bottle on seat nearest aisle with gauge showing so you can monitor.


If landing or turbulence occurs help passenger don the POB.

Talk about a decompression POB

During a decompression you can use the bottles down to zero.


One decompression on a 400 and 700 located in mid cabin.


One on 400 - combi located in aft left a/c.


Two on 800/900 with no rafts.


5 on 800 with rafts


6 on 900 with rafts

Talk about mobility POBs

2 mobility for forward cabin on a/c left (1 in fwd for 700)


2 mobility for aft a/c left


(1 in fwd vestibule, 1 in mid cabin, one in aft cabin - 400 combi)


Mobility can only be used to 1000 for therapeutic. main use is for crew during decompression.

Talk about therapeutic POBs

Can be used to 250 psi.


One bottle Located in mid cabin of all a/c.

What's the initial response to a decompression?

Immediately get access to oxygen and be seated. O2 masks drop at 14,000 cabin altitude.

How do you determine if a passenger is unresponsive?

Assess the scene first, approach passenger, tap shoulder, talk, and assess for breathing. Do this for 10-15 seconds.

What if a person is unresponsive?

After they don't respond tell other fa to notify pilots, get mask, gloves, and aed. Check for pulse and breathing for 10 seconds to determine next step. If no pulse begin compressions till mask arrives then do 30 compressions and 2 breaths.


If pulse but no breathing begin compression to clear airway.


If breathing and pulse but not responsive move to recovery position.

FAA card, key, watch, passport, crew badge, manual, IMD. Jump seat position, exit responsibility, exit assignment, cabin area of responsibility, ABPs. Review any updates.
