- stimulates land boom in west, land prices rise - there was availability of easy credit to settlers and speculators from state and wildcat banks --> fuels land boom - but new national bank began tightening credit, calling loans --> leads to failure of state banks |

- Missouri applies to Union with slavery
- Tallmadge proposes to prohibit further intro of slaves in Missouri- gradual emancipation - at the time 11 free and 11 slave states - Missouri as "free" would upset balance |

- Congress delayed approving Panama mission bc didn't want whites mixing with blacks - governor of Georgia defied president and proceeded with plans for Indian removal - support for new tariff on imported goods -- paying more for raw materials (southerners called tariff of abominations) |
