Collective Goods

Things that must be shared by a group or category of people, regardless of their own participation in the social movement. A good that benefits the whole groups. The state is often the dispenser. Attention is on governmental policies and rights are considered collective goods.

Civil Society

The area of public life that involves groups of people in activities outside the formal arena of politics.

Social Movements

Collectivities acting with some degree of organization and continuity, partly outside institutional or organizational channels, for the purpose of challenging existing systems of authority, or resisting change in such systems.

Resource Mobilization

Need for resources to produce a social movement. Things neccessary to function as an organization to carry out social movement activities.
