103.1 State the reason why electrical power is required when folding the tail rotor pylon.
Electrical power is required when folding the tail rotor pylon for tail rotor indexing.
103.2 State the wind restrictions for folding the main rotor blades and tail rotor pylon.
Winds restrictions are 45 knots or less for folding the main rotor blades and tail rotor pylon. Do not fold main rotor or tail rotor with winds in excess of 45 knots.
103.3 State the position of the stabilator during tow/park of a helicopter.
The position of the stabilator during tow/park of a helicopter is level. Position stabilator slew switch until stabilator is level.
103.4 State the location of tiedown fittings on the SH-60F/HH-60H.
A total of six tiedown fittings:
a. One on port main landing gear
b. One on starboard main landing gear
c. One high point above port main landing gear
d. One high point above starboard main landing gear
e One on port side of the aircraft transition section
f. One on starboard side of the aircraft transition section
103.5 State the ground receptacle locations and proper procedures for aircraft grounding.
The aircraft has two ground receptacles, one located on the port transition area and one on the starboard transition area. The proper procedures for aircraft grounding is to connect a low resistance ground wire to static/earth ground and then to the aircraft ground receptacle.
103.6 State the procedures and cautions that must be observed during aircraft jacking.
Aboard ship, jacking should not be attempted unless normal operating weather exists (pitch not to exceed +/- 2, roll not to exceed +/- 6.
Be sure aircraft is on a flat and level surface which is strong enough to support concentrated jack load.
Aboard ship, tiedown chains must be installed prior to jacking.
To prevent injury to personnel and damage to aircraft, loosen chains gradually while jacking.
Do not jack aircraft while engines or main rotor blades are operating.
Be sure jack is properly positioned directly under jacking pad.
A minimum of a guide and one person per jack is required.
103.7 Explain why tiedown deflection of blade tips should be six to twelve inches from static position.
To prevent damage to blades from excessive tightening of tiedown cables or from wind flapping.
103.8 Identify the personnel required for an aircraft move.
Director
Port safety observer
Brake rider
Starboard safety observer
Nose safety observer
Tractor driver
103.9 State the purpose of a whistle during an aircraft move.
The whistle is the primary means to alert the brake rider and director to stop an aircraft in the event of an emergency. For example, the aircraft is about to hit something.
