What is Gestation?
|
Gestation = prenatal age of the developing fetus

Describe the difference between Gravida and Para.
|
Gravida = total number of times a woman has been pregnant, including the present one.
Para = the number of a womans pregnancies that have ended after at least 20 weeks gestation. |

How is stillbirth different from abortion?
|
Stillbirth = fetus born dead AFTER gestation of 20 weeks. This is still considered a para.
Abortion = pregnancy that ends before 20 weeks gestation. |

What are the 2 types of abortions?
|
Spontaneous abortion (SAB) = one that occurs naturally
Therapeutic abortion (TAB) = intentional termination of the pregnancy |

Multip is going to have the baby fast. Get her an epidural and ready to delivery asap.
Primip ideally will still have 3 hours to go (1 cm dilation per hour ideally for first time mothers) so its not as urgent |

During labor, what are you going to do for the patient to ensure adequate oxygenation?

Raise patients head at least 30 degrees to assist with breathing

How much does the mothers blood volume increase during pregnancy?
