Henry 7 Foriegn Policy

Lambert simnel- 1487, pretending to be Edward earl of warwick (prince in the tower) yorkist claim to throne. Henry stopped successfully- battle of east stoke where Henry had 8000 men and earl of Lincoln only had 1200, simnel put in kings kitchen , Lincoln Schwartz and Thomas Geraldine executed.

Warbeck- impersonate Richard York prince in tower,1491- taken in by Charles 8 but treaty of etaples 1492 too not shelter rebels. 1493- marg b teach about York court accepted in holy Roman court by Maximilian ,1494-Ht execute will Stanley for conspiring in gov about warbeck 1497- James 4 and warbeck try invade England by no support 1498-warbeck captured tries to escape 1499-exacuted.

Nov 1501: Catherine of Aragon and Arthur marry cement alliance and treaty of madina del campo in 1489 but Arthur die a year later.

1485 and 89 navigation acts-prevented English merchants from exporting goods in foreign ships if English ships where available.

1489- treaty of maiden del campo with Spain meant that they had equal tradin rights for Spanish and English merchants and that they promised to work together to defend eachother from attack.

Venice imposed heavy tariffs on English trade as they where trading in the Mediterranean with Florence which were there rivals 1490- signed treaty with Florence to import wool to piss which restricted wool sales to Venice and they lifted tariffs.

1492- treaty of etaples where Charles 8 had to pay england 745000 crowns in promise not to support Henry’s enemies.

1496- intercursus Magnus enabled English merchants to trade free with burgundy by 1509 English merchants where shipping more then 50% of the cloth exported to Europe and 60% more English cloth was being exported in Europe in 1509 than in 1485.
