What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is a beautiful system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.

What are symbols?

Symbols are sensible images used to express a hidden meaning.

What symbols are represented on your emblem?

The square, the compass and the letter G.

Explain them?

The SQUARE is an emblem of morality and one of the working tools of my profession. The compass circumscribes my actions, and keeps me within due bounds with all mankind. The letter G alludes to geometry, the fifth science, but more particularly to sacred name of DEITY, in whom I place my trust AND with reverence most devoutly and humbly bow.

What are tokens?

Certain friendly or brotherly grips by which one Mason may know another in the dark as well as in the light.

Of a Master Mason.
