Natural Moral Law Factual Test

The natural is that which everywhere is equally valid...that which is natural is unchangeable.

True law is right reason in agreement with nature...there will be one master and ruler,that is, God over us all, for he is the author of this law.

Law is nothing else than an ordination of reason for the common good.

A certain order is to be found in the things that are apprehended by men...that good is to be done and pursued and evil is to be avoided. All the other precepts of the law of nature are based on this.

Aquinas and he said, the primary precepts are rules which are self evident, obvious and known through reason. They're absolute and unchanging.

Specific rules derived from the primary precepts which apply to situations people find themselves in.

A person's interior act (motivation) must be good, as well as the exterior act (the action itself)

Because, we're all born with original sin. This is because Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating fruit from the forbidden 'knowledge tree'. As the human race was seminally present in Adam's loins, we share in that sinful act and must repair the relationship between God and humanity.

"Do good and avoid evil"

Aquinas believes that all humans operate according to this rule and all other precepts of the law of nature are based on this.

If our actions are good and help people, we will be sheep and have eternal life in Heaven with God. If our actions are bad and don't help people, we will be goats and have eternal punishment.

This is a rule made by Aquinas which states that if an action has a good motivation and a good outcome, it can be classed as good even if it comes with a negative outcome.

If a pregnant woman had caner and needed treatment that would kill the baby it would still be seen as a ood act. This is because the intent to cure her is good and the act of curing her is good, even though ending the pregnancy is bad as that was not the aim.

The power of acquiring intellectual knowledge without having had any prior experience.

It is the basis of the ethical system and is used in decision making.

It's a theological word, but there is no difference between this idea and acting against reason.

This is a process where general ethical prinicipal is applied to very specific details or cases. A casuist tries to make decisions based on known cases.
