To maintain the necessary communications link for authentication, maintain tactical records, manage reporting contacts that the aircraft's sensors have detected, monitor navigation systems, and report equipment malfunctions to the TACCO. COTAC should be familiar with all ASW and ASUW sensors, and all search and kill store functions to direct the tactical crew should the situation arise.
