At greased assembly added to a faucet outlet that causes the water issuing from the faucet opening to entrain air from the atmosphere. This may improve the taste of some water supplies.

Aerator

A raised section at the back of a wall hung basin that helps to contain water splashed by people using the basin.

Backsplash

A float operated valve that controls the water level in a tank. as the float falls the valve opens and allows water to enter the tank. As water rises in the tank, the float attached to the valve rises and ultimately shuts the incoming water off.

Ballcock

A small fixture usually installed in a bathroom that allows people to wash their hands or faces.

Lavatory (Basin)

A circular synthetic rubber plug used to hold water in a basin.

Lavatory drain plug

The assembly tightened into the bottom of a kitchen sink to allow for the connection of the fixture outlet pipe.

Basket and strainer

A fixture designed for bathing the whole body at once.

Bathtub

Three fixtures normally installed in bathrooms, consisting of a water closet, basin and bathtub.

Bathroom group

The ring shaped flange required for mounting a floor outlet water closet.

Closet flange

A commercially available piping arrangement that connects the outlet piping from sinks with two or more compartment together, using a common trap

Continuous Waste

A cup shaped device that sits in the outlet of a kitchen sink to hold water in the sink.

Crumb cup or strainer

A device incorporated in some faucet designs that causes water to divert to a spray nozzle or a shower head instead of a discharging from the faucet outlet.

Diverter

A finishing disc for surrounded pipe that penetrates through floors or walls.

Escutcheon

The fixture water supply control device, attached to the fixture, opened or closed by the hand, foot or knee pressure or by interrupting an infrared light beam

Faucet

Thin walled tubing used for connecting fixture faucets to water supply tubes.

Fixture supply tube

Is similar to the siphon jet bowl. It may be constructed with or without a jet assembly in the trap-way

Reverse trap bowl

Type of toilet that achieves its flushing action from water exiting the bowl rim through diagonal holes in the rim, producing a vortex at the bowl trap-way.

Washdown bowl

Wall hung toilet. Normally used for ease of cleaning in public places.

Blowout blow

A fixture trap in either a P-Trap or S-Trap pattern, which is designed for and built into some plumbing fixtures, including water closets and some wall hung urinals

Integral trap

A single or double-compartment plumbing fixture used for pre washing or soaking laundry prior to washing in a clothes washer or may be used for hand washing delicate articles of clothing.

Laundry tray or tub

A fixture outlet commonly installed on basins for the purpose of directing the fixture wastewater to the trap.

Patented overflow

Compression fittings that are placed in fixture openings to allow piping to be connected to fixtures

Spud

A flanged connecting pipe installed from the outlet of a fixture that directs wastewater to the fixture trap.

Tailpiece or fixture outlet pipe

A synthetic rubber stopper used in a toilet tank to control the storage or discharge of water from the tank

Tank ball or flapper

A lavatory set into the countertop of a bathroom cupboard

Vanity

A glass-like coating applied to chinaware, cast-iron or steel fixtures for ease in cleaning the fixture.

Vitreous (vitrified)

Known as the best type of gravity flush bowl.
