Hot Water Circulation/Re-circulation Pumps |
1) Provide hot water without waiting 2) Radiant heating |
Sewage Ejector Pump/Grinder Packages/ Sewage Waste |
-Add bathroom in basement or when the sewer or septic lines are higher than the water |
Sump Pumps |
-Remove water from basement, crawl space, drain pool, patio. -Used with a sump basin |
Backup Sump Pump |
Pumps when electricity is killed Can have loud notifications sounds Run on batteries |
Sink, Washing Machine, Laundry Tray Pump |
Allows you to use appliances without having dig up your basement |
What are the two types on sump pumps? |
1) Submersible - small and compact 2) Pedestal - tall and skinny |
Sewage Pump Sizing |
Handle waste solids sizing up to 2" with a 2" output |
Macerating System |
Essentially a toilet with a sewage pump attached -PRO: Dont need to break up flooring -CON: often smaller and less powerful and ugly |
Effluent Pump |
-2" output but can only handle 3/4" solids -Often pumping greywater |
Greywater |
Not sewage but not clean. EX: laundry, dishwasher, sink |
Utility Pump |
-Temporary and manual usage -Don't come w/ float switches |
Booster Pump |
Installed on the main water line coming from the city water to help regulate pressure and provide constant flow |
Condensate Pump |
-Used with an AC when condensate can not naturally drain |
Circulator Pump 1) Two Main Uses 2) Two Main Types |
1) Radiant heating & hot water return 2) Open introduces new water while closed does not. |
Define Head |
The height to which a pump can raise water |
Describe the relationship between suction and head |
Direct relationship. If suction is lower than head will be lower. Due to potential energy. |
Define total head |
Subtract head available at suction minus that at the discharge. This lets us know what the pump can do regardless of suction conditions. |
Head |
Head will remain the same assuming that liquid is viscosity is similar to water but the discharge pressure will be altered based on the specific gravity of the liquid |
