What would cause the takeoff warning horn test to fail (takeoff warning horn goes off)?

Emerg brake must be off

Condition levers max

Flaps 5, 10 or 15

Trims in takeoff range

Flight/taxi taxi

If we get a FLAP POWER caution light on start, what can we do?

The QRH, if it doesn't reset, we need maintenance.

What indications do we get with a successful APU fire test?

10 lights, aom 3-25

What are the memory items for a roll jam?

Autopilot disengaged

Roll disc handle pull and turn 90°

What are the memory items for a pitch jam?

Autopilot disengaged

Flap and airspeed maintain at time of jam

Pitch control attempt to overcome jam

If unable to overcome jam:

Relax control column force

Pitch disc handle pull and turn 90°

What will happen if the ALT GEAR DOOR is left open for takeoff? Why won’t the gear retract?

It connects the hydraulic extension and retraction lines to return. It disables normal operation of the gear.

How do we open the gear doors for the walkaround?

LANDING GEAR ALT RELEASE DOOR open

MAIN GEAR ALT RELEASE handle pull

How do we check the Emergency Brake pressure?

Copilot MFD bottom row

500 for eng 2

1000 for eng 1

What should the Emergency Brake pressure be at?

500 for eng 2

1000 for eng 1

What is the minimum hydraulic quantity for dispatch?

40%

Why does the First Officer have to select the flaps to a takeoff setting before the Captain can do the rudder check?

To get the full range of motion of the rudder

How do we know that the STBY HYD PUMP has turned on?

Light on switch

Stby pressure gauge on mfd shows positive pressure

How do we know that the PTU CTRL is working?

PTU Pressure advisory light on

When does the PTU CTRL come on automatically?

Park brake off

Flap selected more than 0°

#1 hydraulic press more than 2400PSI

#2 reservoir not empty

When does the STBY HYD PRESS automatically come on?

#1 engine fails

Flaps set to more than 0° when park brake off and #1 reservoir not empty

What is the normal pressure in the #1 and #2 hydraulic systems?

3000 PSI

Why do we select aux pumps off after landing, but we wait until we’re parked at the gate to shut off the Hyd pumps?

Aux pumps are fuel pumps, we don't need extra fuel pressure once on the ground.

However we do need the hydraulic pressure on the ground for braking.

What is powered by the #2 hydraulic system?

Nose wheel steering

Landing gear

Outboard spoilers

Elevator

Rudder

What is powered by the #1 hydraulic system?

PTU

Flaps

Brakes

Inboard spoilers

Rudder

Elevator

What does the LDG GEAR INHIBIT switch do?

Inhibits the normal operation of the landing gear.

Why do we lower the landing gear handle on the alternate gear extension procedure?

To get the handle in the right position so things don't look out of place.

Why would a failure of the #1 ENG HYD PUMP cause the same caution lights as loss of all fluid?

Because there is no more pressure in the system in both cases and that is how the system detects a fault.

What are the main types of start malfunctions?

Hot start

Hung start

No light

Starter failure

No starter cutout

What indicates a Hot Start?

ITT rising rapidly

ITT reaching limit

What indicates a Hung Start?

Nh not reaching second stage

Stays below 50%

What indicates a No Lightup (Wet Start)?

ITT remaining at 0 after fuel is introduced

What do we do if we have a hot start, hung start or no lightup?

Aborted start QRC

starting by memory items

What indicates a No Starter Cutout? What do we do?

Select switch doesn't come back to center

No starter cutout QRH

What indicates a Starter Failure? What do we do?

Select light remain illuminated

Starter failure QRH

What do we do if we have no engine oil pressure on start?

Abort start QRC

What do we do if we get an engine fire indication during the #2 engine start?

On the ground emergency QRC

What are the indications of a stable engine start?

ITT stops rising

Nh around 64% and stabilized

What is the ITT limit for engine start?

920° for 20 second max

What does FADEC do if we hit the 920C limit?

Automatically shuts down the engine

If the engine does not light up, what does FADEC do?

Stops the start after 16 seconds

When does the starter cut out on a normal start?

About 50% Nh

How long should the SELECT light remain illuminated after the starter cuts out?

About 15 seconds

If we look up and notice that the engine has not lit up because the ignition switch was in the OFF position, what do we do?

Aborted start QRC And QRH

If the SELECT light remains illuminated for more than 15 seconds after the starter cuts out, what is happening in the system?

Starter is energized and not shutting down

When would we action the Engine Failure QRC below flap retraction altitude?

When there is an engine fire

What are some indications of an engine flameout?

ITT drops rapidly

Nh drop

No drop

Torque to 0

If we still have the affected engine producing rated power (e.g. prop overspeed, engine fire with no power loss), we still call “set IAS V2,” but we only pitch the aircraft to a normal takeoff attitude during the initial climb (i.e. until we have Vclimb established). Why?

Not to overspeed the flaps

Why can’t we ignore the engine failure after takeoff procedure if it is VMC, e.g. just fly our own headings?

Because we can avoid terrain visually

What is the major difference in indications between an unscheduled feather and a propeller overspeed?

Unscheduled feather has high torque low prop rpm

Prop overspeed is high prop rpm and slightly lower torque

When the propeller overspeeds, there are two ways that the aircraft protects against a total runaway. What two things are they? What RPM do they limit the prop RPM to, and how do they do it?

Hydraulic and electronic

Hydraulic overspeed governor limits rpm to 1071 by realeasing oil

Electronic fadec reduces fuel to the engine to limit at 1122 rpm

If we have the ENG OIL PRESS warning light, but the gauge is still reading okay, why do we shut down the engine?

In case the gauge is frozen

How do we know the prop has been feathered?

Prop rpm goes to 0 or 100 if engine is still on

What drives the prop into feather?

Engine oil pressure

What unfeathers the prop?

Pcu, engine oil pressure

If we lost all oil pressure, what happens to the propeller pitch?

It would stay where it is.

If oil feathers the propeller, and we’ve lost all oil pressure, why can we still feather the prop?

The oil pressure for the prop is independent of the engine oil pressure. The prop has it's on pump in the gearbox. Also the prop aux pump is electric.

If we have an ENG FUEL PRESS caution light and there are signs of a fuel leak, why do we shut down the engine?

Risk of fire. The leak and source of ignition need to be illuminated

What happens when you pull a PULL FUEL/HYD OFF handle?

Fuel and hydraulic valve is closed at the firewall. Fire extinguisher are armed.
