Investigation into the Poor Laws - 1832 |
This investigation found that the money to help the poorest unemployed (paid for out of taxing the rich) was rising each year. This brought the general health of the poorest to the attention of the government who wished to save money. |

This act stopped the payment of money to the poor unemployed and instead sent them to work in the 'work house'. Conditions were bad inside - crowded, unsanitary an with a bad diet given to workers. |
