Means :The Fox. Reynard the Fox. Sly, cunning, he cons a group of highly regarded people (fables) to think he's dying so they give him gold and presents. Main character. Very greedy, deceitful. Associated with intriguing villains and the Devil. Feigning death to attract prey.

Means : The Fly. Just as cunning as Volpone, uses his tricks against him. Uses flattery to get what he wants. Actually has quite a bit of power even though he's the 'parasite'. He controls what happens between Volpone and the fables. Musca; Latin word for fly. Believed to be irritating to foxes.

Means : The Crow. Fable: A crow that bedecked himself with peacock feathers. Links to Corvino being vain. Prostitutes his own wife but then becomes jealous.

Means : The Vulture. Fable: Associated with avarice (particularly in lawyers). Keener scent for death than other fables.

Corbaccio

Means : The Raven. Fable: Croaks in presaged the death of others. Repudiate their young if they're not as black as themselves. Links to him disinheriting Bonario.
