Iago is an outstanding villain. The consummate skill with which he joins together in a single steady chain his many plans for evil is a mark of genius. He neither respects moral nor grand nobleness. All matters pure and noble are seen as below his "learned spirit." The very quintessence of his nature is his effortless reversing in the order of good and evil in an effort to make the good appear the evil and vice versa.
