The term congressional gridlock is a term that is used in today’s government. Congressional gridlock in politics, gridlock, deadlock, or political stalemate refers to a situation when there is difficulty passing laws that satisfy the needs of people. A government is gridlocked when the ration between bills is passed and the agenda of the legislature decreases. There are many reasons behind government gridlocks in today’s government. The main reason behind government gridlocks is a lack of bridge builders, and regardless of results in our congress, voters decide to keep the same members in the house regardless …show more content…
Due to the two parties being against each other, they come to a complete standstill as you would in a traffic jam. However, this would halt the conclusion of a bill and both sides would not come to an agreement. The Washington Post said “The likelihood of congressional gridlock has doubled over the past six decades. In 1947, fewer than 30 percent of issues were left ungoverned. Comparing that to congress today, we are at 40 percent increase when it comes to major issues stopped at a standstill” (Ingraham: “Congressional Gridlock…”). Gun control is a topic that always interests me mostly because our government is absolutely ignorant when it comes to the topic. Following the night club shooting in Orlando this summer, democrats proposed an idea that would keep guns out of terrorist reach. However, this wouldn’t only keep guns out of the reach of terrorist, but citizens of the United States as well that are legally allowed to own and carry a firearm thanks to the second amendment. I believe a lot of these standstills could be solved if one side was smart enough to not take away a human’s constitutional rights. It is no surprise that this issue ended in a gridlock. If we as a nation want to stop the terrorism in our country, we need to strengthen the security of our borders and strengthen our national security. Allowing the ability to carry anywhere and potentially allowing teachers to carry at schools would limit the odds of a school shooting. Democrats are so concerned about gun control laws and trying to keep terrorist from purchasing guns, but they are not thinking that terrorist have ways to get around these loop holes. There are several ghost gun importers throughout the world that import them in to all of the borders of the United States. Hillary Clinton armed terrorist with weapons to kill our own government officials, but you do not hear anyone speaking on that matter. The fact of the matter is that our government is
