We as humans, participate in various activities throughout our lives. Whether it be in a group or singularly, it is a fact of social life (Coon & Mitterer, 2013). These particular activities that we engage in usually determines the behavior of other people around us. “Social psychology is the scientific study of how individuals behave, think, and feel in social situations” (Coon & Mitterer, 2013, p.520). All of us belong to many social groups that overlap each other, within each of these groups we all occupy a certain position in the structure of the group (Coon & Mitterer, 2013). “Most groups consist of a group structure which is a network of roles, communication pathways, and power in a group” (Coon & Mitterer, 2013, p.521). Fighting for a cause is a common goal within many groups. Each group motivation is based on something different. Motivation is a drive influenced by social and psychological mechanism that allow a person to work towards a particular goal (Coon & Mitterer, 2013). Some people can spent up to eight hours a day lingering on social media, taking selfie and tweeting all day. Most kids find social media as an escape from their boring day or from their nagging parents, but what most of them don’t know is that social media can have a devastating effect on their life. Studies show that adolescents who are very active on social media tends to be more egotistical, and adults who spent a lot of time on social media show more symptoms of psychological disorders, such as antisocial behaviors, obsession, and aggressiveness (Rosen, 2011).
