IsmaelDembeleWk15EngHW How does the play present it’s attitude towards women in the play? As one of the main goals for the play, JB Priestley presents his socialist views as keeping everyone as ‘one body’, and aims to reflect that through the ideologies of the Inspector. However, there are many wrongdoings and imbalances in society at that time, and this was reflected through the remainder of the characters in the play. One of the greatest ones is the injustice towards women at the time, and this was explained in spectacular detail through a ‘poster child’ Eva Smith, a working class woman who ended up committing suicide, setting off the events in the play.…
Self-Care/Work/Leisure 8. What are Dimitre’s deficits in the occupational performance area of work? Can you make some assumptions about the difficulties he might have in areas that are not specifically mentioned in the evaluation? I believe that due to the communication barrier and the lack of access to transportation, Dimitre would have difficulties with the occupational area of work.…
“If we are to claim and win our rightful place in the sun on an equal basis with men, then we must not insist upon these privileges and prerogatives identified in the past as exclusively feminine.” (SMITH, Margaret Chase | US House of Representatives: History, Art & Archives) Margaret Chase Smith believed in equal rights between men and women. However she did not want her gender to get her into a higher position. She was a political role model for women all over the world. She was not afraid to speak out against what was wrong. She became an independent and dominant legislator.…

Don’t Mention His Madness -Mr. Smith was insane Ladies and gentleman of the jury we are gathered here today to discuss the murder of Mr. Jones. The prosecution states that Mr. Smith is completely and utterly sane. As the defense, we believe that the our defendant, Mr. Smith, is insane. The legal definition of insanity is, “could not distinguish fantasy from reality, could not tell right from wrong, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior”.…
There 's no doubt that I can relate and pity Susan Smith. She went through trauma, depression, and thoughts of suicide just because her life wasn 't perfect, or what she hoped it would 've been. Most of all, Susan and her husband, David, were going through a divorce. Divorcing is hard for both people, even if no one loves each other as much as before. Especially having young children who don 't understand the current situation makes it difficult, tiring, and more stress put onto the parents.…
Traditional assessment tools for the diagnosis of dementia are usually not suitable when evaluating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In addition, the majority of healthcare providers is not armed with the training and experience needed to care for that population holistically. This paper centers on: the progressive changes that occur with dementia especially for individuals with Down Syndrome (DS); the various types of dementia and a focus on Alzheimer’s disease (AD); assessments specifically for the IDD population; and the importance of creating a support system for the individual their advocates; most importantly the need for an interdisciplinary team to have the necessary tools to provide the right care for this population. Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) formally referred to as Mental Retardation is a condition,…
Alice is presenting with immobility, due to arthritis, forgetfulness, agitation and low mood. Forgetfulness can be attributed to cognitive impairment and subsequent memory loss and is a symptom of dementia (DH, 2009). Agitation and low mood can be attributed to symptoms of anxiety and depression which are common symptoms of dementia (Hynninen, M., et al, 2012) (Seignourel, P. J., at al 2008) (O’Connor et al, 2009) and the presence of these symptoms may indicate accelerated cognitive decline and relate to poorer cognitive performance (Beaudreau, 2008). Dementia, as a health condition is a degenerative condition which leads to progressive decline in a number of areas of function such as memory, reasoning communication skills, and the capacity…
Mrs. Morgan’s Feelings While preparing to go to the Public Assistance Office, Mrs. Morgan was feeling a slight dose of anxiety. I believe she felt this way because she woke up very early to get her children ready, and even dressed her baby the night before. I feel like she did these things to assure that she would be at the bus stop on time so she could get to the office. After boarding the bus without enough money and being called out by the bus driver in front of everybody, once Mrs. Morgan sat down, I believe she was feeling embarrassed and a bit overwhelmed as she cried during the bus ride and exited the bus through the side door because she could not bare to look the people in the other seats in the eye. Although a lady stood up for her…
The Affordable Care Act of 2010 required that the services funded by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services must be provided in a person-centered setting (Burm, 2014). Recently, however, this concept is beginning to get strictly implemented in most HCBS settings, in order to provide integrated and coordinated care. ‘Person-centered’ care allows for a holistic methodology to enhancing an individual’s health and well-being. Person-centered care focuses on an individual’s “physical health, intellectual health, social wellness, emotional wellness, creative being and spiritual being” (Burm, 2014). It allows for care to be planned based on an individual’s particular reference, values and goals.…
She said she typically holds items, such as a newspaper, farther away to obtain an improved view of it. These changes are collectively referred to as presbyopia (Boyd & Bee, 2012, p. 396). Presbyopia is defined as the normal loss of visual perception, especially difficulty focusing on near objects (Boyd & Bee, 2012, p. 396). When questioned about differences in hearing she said, “I know I do not hear as well as I used to”. Normal hearing loss that occurs as one ages is called presbycusis (Boyd & Bee, 2012, p. 397).…
Elderly people have always held a special place in my heart, so I wanted to do my field work in a nearby nursing home that I had never visited. I set out to learn about the quality of life that elderly people had in the nursing home and what contributed to that quality, either good or bad. I called ahead to get permission to do this assignment and get access to various areas of the building. I did not give a specific time or day so that I could ensure as natural setting as possible with no special accommodations from the home. I was allowed to make my observations in various parts of the building such as the lobby, lunchroom, and activities room.…
