These populations are continually being modified by increases, such as births and immigrations. They are also being modified by deaths and emigrations. The amount of human population is limited by the supply of food, the effect of diseases, and other environmental factors. Human population is also affected by reproduction and by certain developments, majorly in medicine and public health, which can extend an individual’s life span. Many aspects of human society is touched upon by population trends, such as health, education, family structure, crime patterns, language and culture (Teitelbaum, 2013).
A closed population is a population which immigration and emigration does not occur in. In this population, the only factors, which can change the population, are the addition by births and the subtraction by deaths. However, populations are rarely closed, therefore migrations can increase and decrease the population size in the same way as births and deaths do. Not only do births, deaths and migrations affect the population size, they also affect the composition of the population in terms of age, sex, ethnic or racial composition. An increasing population will have an impact on resources, such as food, oil, gas, fuel and water. If these resources were to reduce, many conflicts will arise, as children will struggle to survive after birth and to be healthy and strong. Strategies such as reducing immigration, using contraception more often, having abortions and raised age sex laws should be used in order to maintain Australia’s population. Although using these strategies have a chance of causing conflict, they need to be used before the population becomes out of hand by increasing rapidly. The population is currently maintained and strategies do not need to be in place in order to reduce populations. If the population were to increase, these strategies will need to be used to further maintain the
