Challenge Position |
a position in which partners stand face-to-face without holding hands as they dance. It is the standard position for most rock and roll dances and is used frequently in Latin dances. |

Clockwise |
in the direction in which the hands of a clock rotate; to the right. it is usually applied to a turn made by either couples or individuals.

counterclockwise |
in the direction opposite in which the hands of a clock rotate; to the left. Dances such as the waltz. foxtrot, and tango always progress in a counterclockwise direction around the dancing area. The term is also applied to a turn made by a couple or an individual.
