Where does air for pressurization normally come from? |
From the engine or APU bleed air. |
How is pressurization controlled? |
By controlling the position of the outflow valves. |
What are the functions of the Cabin Pressurization Acquisition Module (CPAM)? |
Provides information for differential pressure, cabin altitude, and cabin climb rate. |
Where does the CPAM get its static information? |
One static port located on the computer (cabin pressure), and from Pitot-Static 3 (outside pressure). (The CPAM is located under the FOs feet in the pressurized cabin.) |
Where does the Digital Controller receive its pressure information? |
From both ADCs and Pitot-Static 3. |
How does the Digital Controller modulate pressure? |
It sends an electrical signal to activate the Electro-Pneumatic outflow valve, which is slaved to the Pneumatic outflow valve, which open and close as required to maintain scheduled pressure. |
Which outflow valve(s) operate in the MAN mode? |
Only the Pneumatic outflow valve. |
Which cabin rates of climb/descent can be selected in MAN mode? |
-1500 fpm to 2500 fpm |
Does the Electro-Pneumatic valve fail open or closed? |
The Electro-Pneumatic valve fails closed. |
What is the purpose of the ejector pump near the outflow valves? |
The ejector pump uses vacuum air from a bleed source to operate the outflow valves pneumatically. (The ejector pump requires at least one source of bleed air to operate.) |
What is the purpose of the Pressurization Static ports (2) in the rear of the aircraft? |
Sense under-pressure and over-pressure differentials to automatically active a pressure relief system. |
Describe the Automatic Takeoff Pressurization Sequence. |
Aircraft will pressurize to 300' below field elevation (-0.3 psid). It will maintain this pressure until 15 mins pass or the aircraft reaches the theoretical cabin altitude. |
What is the theoretical cabin altitude? |
When the aircraft reaches 7.8 psid. |
What will the DUMP button do? |
Dumps cabin up to 14,500' +/- 500', or current altitude, whichever is lower. |
Will the DUMP button work in MAN mode? |
No. DUMP button only works in AUTO mode. |
What default field elevation is selected if you forget to program it? |
8,000' (This is highest operational pressure altitude.) |
When does the CABIN altitude alerter go off? |
10,000' cabin altitude |
When do the passenger oxygen masks drop automatically (in AUTO mode)? |
14,500' +/- 500' |
How many Recirculation fans are there and what are their purpose? |
2 Recirculate cabin air to mix with air out of the Packs to relieve workload. |
How many Gasper fans are there and what are their purpose? |
1 Responsible for pulling air through the passenger outlets and through the rear avionics bay for cooling. |
Can the Gasper fan be turned off on the ground? |
No. |
How many lines is the air conditioning distribution separated into? |
3 lines. (Upper line for cool air. Lower line for warm air. Dedicated line for the Gasper fan.) |
What happens at the Pack inlets if both Packs are closed? |
The emergency ram air valves open to allow ram air into the cabin and slow the rate of decompression. |
Can you turn a Pack on if you are receiving conditioned air on the ground? |
No. (The volume of air is too high for the system.) |
What is the temperature range of the AUTO temperature controller. |
65 - 85 degrees F. |
What is the temperature range of the MAN temperature controller? |
No temperature range is specified. (Set the knob to 12 o'clock first to stabilize. Then turn the knob slowly to adjust temperature. Avoid full hot or full cold.) |
How do you allow the FA to control the cabin temperature? |
Push the Cabin Temp Controller knob in. |
Where is the cabin temperature sensor located? |
In the ceiling around Row 12. |
When will the Pack valves automatically close? |
I - cing below 24,600' (Pack 1) G - o-Around or T/O-1 takeoff <1700' AGL (Both Packs) O - ne Engine Inop below 9,700' (Both Packs) (Inhibited on APU bleed) P - ack Overload (Associated Pack) E - ngine Start (Both Packs) P - ack Overheat (Associated Pack) E - ssential Power (Valve has no elec. signal) B - leed Source lost (Valve has no pneumatic pressure) |
What does the PACK 1 (2) OVLD caution mean? |
Air pressure entering the ACM is too high, or Temperature where compressor air and bypassed bleed air is too high |
What does the PACK 1 (2) OVHT caution mean? |
Air leaving the Pack is too hot. |
