If you have experienced depression and are impulsive with love, you can relate to Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic comedy written by William Shakespeare in the 16th century. It is about a couple of young adolescents named Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. They meet at a party and instantly fall in love. Juliet gets married to Romeo in secrecy without her father acknowledging it. Their families are also sworn enemies, so Juliet’s father would never let the marriage take place. Juliet’s father wants her to marry an individual named Paris, a suitor of Juliet. Juliet’s father claims he will disown her if she doesn’t marry Paris. In order to get out of the marriage, she drinks a special potion that will make her seem like she is lifeless. …show more content…

In this quote, Romeo asks the Nurse to have Juliet come to Friar Lawrence’s cell in order to be shriven. Shrive means to confess your sins, so Romeo is lying about Juliet confessing her sins when in reality, she is just going to be married. This is rebellious because Romeo lies about her going to forgive her sins. Their families are also sworn enemies, so if Juliet asked to marry Romeo, Capulet would never let it go through. The second point is that Juliet refuses to marry Paris. Again, she is already married to Romeo in secrecy, so she can’t legally marry two people at the same time. The rebellious nature of this action is supported by the quote “Hang thee, young baggage! disobedient wretch! I tell …show more content…
