Meg L Engle: Character Analysis

Improved Essays
Meg changes a lot from the beginning to the end of the book. She learns to be patient because you might not always get what you want at the exact moment you want to, and that there might be reason for it. She also learns to be brave and stand up for what is right, even though everybody else thinks it’s wrong or bad. In the beginning Meg was scared and confused, she didn’t know what to do because her mom wouldn’t explain anything to her and she didn’t know where or what had happened to her father, and she was getting mad about it. “‘Gets back from where? And when?’”(L’Engle 5). This explains how she didn’t know what was happening because she was questioning her mother a lot. She was also causing a lot of conflict between her and her Mom, because she got mad at her Mother when Meg found out and her Mom didn’t tell her. “School was all wrong. She got dropped down to the lower section in her grade.”(L’Engle 4). This shows how she wasn’t that good at school and maybe because she didn’t have as much support at home it was affecting her. …show more content…
She started to understand why her mom had been acting the way she did and why her mom did what she did. She is becoming more brave and demanding and in the story it says, “‘No,” Meg’s voice was flat. “Charles is right, Cal. We have to stay together.”(L’Engle 115). This shows how she isn’t shy and laid back anymore, because when they are in the magical world she is more willing to do things she normally probably wouldn’t have done. For example, it says, “‘Let’s try knocking anyhow,” Charles said. He raised his hand, but before he touched the door it slid up from the top and to each side, splitting into three sections that had been completely invisible a moment before.”(L’Engle 115) This displays how she is getting braver, because she agreed to go into a random building that she has no clue what will happen to

Margaret Edson author of W;t, was winner of the Pulitzer Prize. I have never seen such a well structured and organized play. This is Mrs. Edson’s first play book, and something that strongly supported her while writing W;t is that she had knowledge and experience in the cancer and AIDS unit while also earning her second degree for elementary teaching. Swimming is something that almost everyone loves to do. Whether it is in a pool or the ocean, there is a sense of freedom and weightlessness that we can't get anywhere else. As long as you can float in water you shouldn’t really have any fear or worry. If that water is thirty-two degrees on the other hand, then you might start to worry and panic. In the case of Lynne Cox, after the first page it kept me in suspense wondering, was she just going to die of hypothermia?…

In the short story "Scar" by Amy Tan, the title is thoroughly complemented to the story. The author creates an organized plot that exhibits the numerous uses of literary devices such as symbolism, figurative language, and progression in order to make it obvious to the reader that the title brings out the entire premise of the story. Amy Tan uses a great deal of symbolism in her novella which stands out in her work and makes her writing more compellingand appealing to the reader. Her symbolism points out precisely how important the scar really is in relation to the title and the story. For example, it is stated that "With her pretty, pale face, my mother appeared to float in the room, like a ghost" (Tan 16-17).…

As the WWII based novel progressed, some characters showed they were made of pure innocence being tainted by the outside war, whereas others developed into conflicted human beings. Marie-Laure’s blindness served her well throughout the war by protecting a large portion of her innocence or goodness, but the horrors of war around her still impacted her life. Such is evident when she is saved by Werner and says to him: “When my father left, people said I was brave. But it is not bravery; I have no choice. I wake up and live my life.…
