After meeting each other, the attraction between Romeo and Juliet continually draws them together. However, they must be careful when and where they get together. When Romeo meets Juliet in the Capulet’s orchard, Juliet warns, “... the place death, considering who thou art, / If any of my kinsmen find thee here” (2.2.80-81). Due to the Capulet and Montague feud, the family members reject any peace or communication between each other. The hatred runs so deep that if caught, those who break the expectations may face death. Regardless of these consequences, Romeo and Juliet decide to be defiant and continue their relationship. When some of Romeo’s other irrational decisions catch up to him, he becomes banned from Verona. He sees no way to avoid this punishment that prevents him from being with Juliet, and becomes sullen and morose. When he meets with Friar Laurence, begging for advice, Friar suggests, “Ascend her chamber, hence and comfort her: / But look thou stay not till the watch be set” (3.3.193-194). The conflict between the two opposing families runs so deep that they can only meet in secrecy. This causes discontent and misery as they are forced into separation.
