I would like to say that before I discovered the features that I felt was the most beneficial, I had to develop an understanding of the operation of the application (Wiley & Sons, 2014). In the beginning, I had to learn how to start with Microsoft Word. Furthermore, I learned how to customize the toolbar, create a document, use a document template, correctly save a document, preview my work, check my spelling, and check my grammar. It has been discovered that I will use the template, grammar, and spelling functions on a day to day basis. They will be beneficial to my upcoming learning experience at Bethel University, to my law enforcement career, and to my life in general (Wiley & Sons, 2014). Furthermore, I can set up the “Quick Access Toolbar” to suit my writing needs. This will allow me to access the features that I continuously use very quickly. Moreover, I will be able to use the grammar, spelling, and document features when I write letters, create case files, respond to email, and much more. Microsoft Word will enhance my writing skills tremendously. However, I understand that I will still need to practice writing to become a proficient writer (Hentschker & Mennicken, 2018). Do not feel bad if you make mistakes at first; just hold your head up and keep practicing (Dyre, Tabor, Ringsted & Tolgsgaard, 2017). Remember, “Practice indeed, makes perfect,” (Hentschker & Mennicken 2018, p.1).
