Cross bridge-

Order of a muscle

Epimysium, fascicles wrapped in perimysium, muscle cell/fiber surrounded by endomysium

What are skeletal muscle fibers filled with?

Myofibrils

Sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR)

Surrounds the myofibrils, stores calcium, calcium in the cell is used when muscle is contracting, when the cell is relaxed the calcium is stored

T-Tubule

Runs from top of muscle cell to bottom right next to the SR, has a hole inside

Myofibrils

Made up of continuous myofilaments (sacromeres) that divide the myofibrils.

Sarcromeres

Made up of actin (thin) and myosin (thick) filaments

In depth sarcomere

Importance of sarcomere

It allows muscle contraction!

How do sarcomeres, and therefor myofibrils, and therefor muscle cells, and therefore muscles, shorten?

Actin 23:11

H band- only contains myosin

A band- contains entire myosin

I band- only contains Actin
